Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026 · CleanerConnect (CleanerConnect (a trading name; company to be registered))
This Privacy Policy explains how CleanerConnect (a trading name; company to be registered) ("we") collects and uses personal data when you use CleanerConnect. We are the data controller. We comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. What we collect
- Account data — name, email, phone, password (hashed), role.
- Location — your postcode, geocoded to an approximate latitude/longitude so we can match Customers and Cleaners by distance. We do not publish your exact address.
- Cleaner vetting data — ID verification status, DBS, insurance and right-to-work details and documents you upload.
- Booking & payment data — bookings, messages, reviews, and payment references (card details are handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers).
- Technical data — cookies needed to sign you in and keep the site secure.
2. Why we use it & our lawful basis
- To provide the service (creating bookings, matching, payments) — performance of a contract.
- Vetting & safety checks — legitimate interests and, for special category data, your explicit consent and substantial public interest.
- Service emails (booking updates) — performance of a contract; marketing, only with your consent.
- Legal & fraud prevention — legal obligation and legitimate interests.
3. Sharing
We share the minimum necessary between the two parties to a booking (for example, a Customer's address is shared with their Cleaner only after a booking is confirmed). We use processors including our hosting provider, Stripe (payments & identity) and email delivery. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Retention
We keep account and transaction records for as long as your account is active and as required for tax and legal purposes (generally up to 6 years), then delete or anonymise them.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your data, and to data portability. To exercise these, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
